BCom to MBA: What's the Connection?
Can you do an MBA after BCom? Yes — if you choose that path. You should not take MBA CET only because “BCom students are supposed to.”
Why take MBA CET as a BCom student? Because it is the Maharashtra CET Cell entrance to MBA/MMS programmes. It is one route into a management postgraduate degree — not a continuation exam for commerce.

12 ELIGIBILITY — VERIFIED
Can BCom Students Take MBA CET?
Yes. Eligibility is common — not BCom-specific.
As per the State CET Cell MAH-MBA/MMS CET information brochure (latest published: CET 2026 / AY 2026–27), a candidate needs a minimum three-year bachelor's degree from a UGC- or AIU-recognised university in any discipline, with at least 50% aggregate (45% for specified Maharashtra backward class, EWS and PwD categories). Final-year bachelor's students may also appear. Confirm the brochure for your attempt year before you apply.

- BCom is a recognised bachelor's discipline — it qualifies under the common rule.
- No separate BCom CET paper exists. The exam is the same.
- Final-year BCom students may also appear, as with other degrees.

Yes. MAH MBA CET eligibility is a recognised bachelor's degree in any discipline with the required aggregate — currently 50% generally, and 45% for specified Maharashtra reserved categories, as per the latest CET Cell brochure. There is no separate BCom paper or BCom-only eligibility rule. Confirm the brochure for your attempt year on cetcell.mahacet.org.
Q2Can BCom students crack MBA CET?
Yes. MBA CET scores speed, reasoning, accuracy and aptitude — not your degree title. A BCom background is a starting point. Performance depends on exam-specific preparation.
Q3Is MBA CET difficult for BCom students?
It is not a different or harder paper for BCom students. What can feel new is timed aptitude solving, which is true for most first-time CET aspirants regardless of degree.
Q4Does a BCom background help in MBA CET?
It may give familiarity with numbers, data or business context, depending on your coursework. It does not replace Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Verbal practice or timed mocks.
Q5What should BCom students study for MBA CET?
The same CET areas as everyone else: Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Abstract/Visual Reasoning, and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension — plus speed, accuracy and exam strategy.
Q6Can I prepare for MBA CET after BCom?
Yes. Many students start CET preparation during or after BCom. The degree is not a barrier; you still need a structured aptitude plan.
Q7Is MBA after BCom a good option?
It can be a natural next step if you want a management postgraduate path. It is not mandatory. MBA CET is the Maharashtra entrance route to MBA/MMS programmes — not a requirement to complete BCom.
Q8Do BCom students need strong Maths for MBA CET?
You need comfort with arithmetic and quantitative aptitude — percentages, ratios, averages and similar — not engineering calculus. If your BCom maths or statistics exposure is limited, build those fundamentals before chasing speed.
